InfoLibrarian Studio™ Suite is a special package offered and bundled with all the modules you need to begin managing your metadata today. The current version of InfoLibrarian Studio™ replaces the previous classic client tools available in the products. InfoLibrarian Studio™ tools are included in the 4.1.2R2 version of our products. InfoLibrarian Studio™ is bundled with an ISAM based repository and standalone portal. The repository on server versions of the product can be deployed to SQL Server or Oracle DBMS systems.

    InfoLibrarian Administrator™

    The InfoLibrarian Administrator™ is a Windows based desktop metadata management and stewardship tool.

    Tool Purpose

    The InfoLibrarian Administrator™ is the main management console for the product. The InfoLibrarian Administrator™ runs on all versions of windows including Windows 7. The InfoLibrarian Administrator™ is used primarily by information stewards to import, create and maintain metadata and documentation. A standalone version comes bundled with the InfoLibrarian Desktop Express™ product. The InfoLibrarian Administrator™ is bundled with all versions of the product. InfoLibrarian Studio™ contains all the application tools and components. InfoLibrarian Studio™ is now available with all packages of the InfoLibrarian™ products including the server based products.

    InfoLibrarian Object Modeler™

    The InfoLibrarian Object Modeler™ allows you to create your own meta-model changes without having to modify any underlying database schema. This allows you to create extensions to your metadata model to capture additional information.

    Tool Purpose

    The InfoLibrarian Object Modeler™ allows you to identify anything that you want document and define it. Additionally you can organize it the way you want. Think of it as having the ability to define templates for the metadata you want to manage in your environment. For example you can create objects that represent:

    InfoLibrarian Auto Scanner™

    Auto Rescan™ utility is a part of our server based products, but now we've included it in the InfoLibrarian Studio™. The Auto Scanner™ allows for command-line and/or scheduling of scans for automation. The auto scanner also tracks changes in history automatically. In our server products the InfoLibrarian Auto Scanner™ is a powerful multi-threaded/scalable server component of the product. On the desktop studio, the InfoLibrarian Auto Scanner™ runs in one process. The big difference being the total time it takes to perform full rescans. If you have a repository approaching several millions of objects, the server version is recommended. The auto-scanner can also be run in GUI mode.

    The Auto-Scanner™ refreshes and maintains historical changes as they occur over time. This catalogs and safeguards the core knowledge about your environment, permanently!     The portal is a fully functional stand-alone website (no web server required) that you can can use to find information by performing search, impact analysis and lineage analysis.

    The InfoLibrarian Desktop Portal™ allows you to serve up a local website on your computer, and gain access to the entire technical portal capabilities available in all versions of the product. The desktop portal is installed by default when you install the product, and it's available from a click of a button.

    InfoLibrarian™ Metadata Adapters

    Scanners or adapters are specialized connectors that extract metadata and documentation from third party tools for indexing in the repository. You can choose from a variety of pre-built adapters and/or integrate custom adapters as well. Built in connectors are similar to adapters except that they are built into the desktop version and are provided for many common tools. InfoLibrarian Studio™ is bundled with some common adapters to get you started.

    Tool Purpose

    The technical metadata as a foundation provides the true facts about the data and the processes that affect the data. This knowledge is already buried within your technology infrastructure. InfoLibrarian™ adapters scour your source systems for you. They are powerful and robust and provide a high degree of scalability to perform reliably in the most demanding environments. The technical metadata such as database schema, and processes that manipulate data like ETL Tools, custom processes, and source code, are indexed automatically within the Universal MetaMart™ in an organized structured format. You have full access to this index using SQL or any tool you are comfortable with for reporting.

    Stitching and Mapping Metadata Across Tools

    InfoLibrarian™ enables you to easily capture, define and map your business Metadata, automatically displaying and categorizing it in the portal with terminology that is already familiar to your users. , you can define or import business terms and rules from various other tools. With a few clicks, business terms can be mapped to technical Metadata using the terms mapping tool. You can also define subject areas and map those to the business terms that will be auto-generated in the portal.

    InfoLibrarian Auto Mapper™

    The InfoLibrarian Auto Mapper™ generates and automates the process of stitching or chaining scanned metadata objects from different sources. The InfoLibrarian Auto Mapper™ defines the linkages between two scanned sources and allows those linkages to be automatically generated when re-scans run. The result facilitates visual lineage via the portal.

    Tool Purpose

    Once auto-mappings are generated, the InfoLibrarian Portal will automatically generate the visual lineage and references. The built-in visual mapper tool allows you to associate objects or defines hierarchies and categories of objects, build subject areas, and link documents. The portal automatically graphically materializes the subject areas you define and provides the users with the ability to drill through the hierarchies to the finest level of detail. Subject areas are presented in the portal graphically.
